How to setup product variants?
The first step to using Skyware Inventory is to create a free account. During the account creation process you can customize your account to fit your process.
Item variants can be setup within Skyware Inventory to group different varieties of the same items. You can assign as many variants as you want to create a rich taxonomy of inventory item variations.
Variants are commonly used for things like size, color, flavor, lots, units and more. For example;
- small, medium and large
- red, yellow or blue
- vanilla, chocolate or cinnamon
- lot 387, lot 388 or lot 389
- bottle, six-pack or case
Note, if you have not already activated variants within your account, please visit My Account -> Account Settings to enable the feature. Once enabled, within My Account -> Variants you will find features to create, edit, delete, or deactivate variants.
How are variants displayed within Skyware Inventory?
Variants within Skyware Inventory are represented with a | symbol between the item name and it's variations to keep things clear. For example:
How to create variants?
To create item variants simply create your item, then add it's appropriate variant within the item edit screen. Here's an example:
How to report on inventory item variations?
Skyware Inventory provides several built-in reporting mechanisms for managing and monitoring your inventory item variations.
The Items module allows you to filter and sort your inventory by product variants.
And for more advanced reporting, within the Reports module you'll find the Inventory Cost Report
that allows you to view, export, and print a list of your item variants, including their quantities and their costs.
